Arizona Children of Incarcerated Parents Bill of Rights Report
One outcome of the Project is the Children of Incarcerated Parents Bill of Rights Report and Recommendations (2007). This document represents the dedicated efforts of more than 250 public servants, community activists, and concerned citizens.

Needs assessment activities included regional discussions, approximately 100 interviews across the state, and nine focus groups with stakeholders such as caregivers, re-entry parents, mentors, and children of prisoners (now adults).

Quantitative data collection included county, state, and national populations of adult prisoners in jails and prisons, as well as adults on probation.

Ten recommendations are proposed to meet the identified needs of Arizona’s children of prisoners. One of them is to advocate for statewide funding and access to best-practice mentoring services for children of incarcerated parents.
